An enduringly popular charter yacht with a strong client following, POWDERMONKEY OF LONDON has recently undergone a comprehensive refit. The yacht also has a fascinating provenance to her name. The powdermonkey on a naval Man of War was the crew member responsible for bringing the gunpowder from the ship's magazine to the gun deck. In fact, one of the current owner's ancestors was a real powdermonkey who served under the Lord Nelson on the HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1806. He even won the Trafalgar medal and so the yacht is named in his honour.
